Our Story
We first opened our doors in 1983 and have a long tradition of serving the Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia, and Pelham areas. Our canine friends are our life, and we have been involved in their breeding, showing and care for over a quarter century.
Elizabeth Hyde, owner and chief dog lover since 1985, started showing dogs in 1976 and has a lifetime of experience in coat care and animal behavior. Breeding and showing afghan hounds is her passion, so she knows how to maintain long coated dogs!
Over the years we have finished many champions, bred discriminately, and our canine children have been nationally ranked. Because the show circuit can be stressful for humans and canines alike we decided in 1983 to dedicate our talents locally, and The Classy Pup was born.
